Copperplate
Our process

How Copperplate works

From your first message to the final file, the process is simple and predictable. You send your document and a short brief, we confirm a quote, an editor matched to your field does the work, and you can ask questions afterward.

The process at a glance

Every Copperplate project follows five steps. You send your file and brief. We reply with a quote and a delivery date. An editor or consultant matched to your field does the work. You receive your file with Track Changes and explanatory comments. You ask follow-up questions until everything is clear.

  1. Send your file and brief through the quote form.
  2. Confirm the quote, scope and deadline.
  3. Match with an editor who knows your discipline.
  4. Receive your edited file or analysis notes.
  5. Ask follow-up questions about any comment.

Step 1: Send your file and brief

Use the quote form or email contact@copperplate.cc. Attach your document and tell us, in a few lines, what you need. A clear brief helps us quote accurately and match you with the right editor.

What to send

  • The file itself, ideally as a Word document (.docx) so we can use Track Changes
  • The service you want, such as proofreading, editing, formatting or statistics consulting
  • Your field and the type of document (thesis chapter, journal manuscript, proposal)
  • The style guide or journal guidelines you must follow, such as APA 7
  • Your deadline
  • For statistics work, your data file, codebook and research questions
  • Any notes from your supervisor or reviewers that the edit should respect

If you are unsure which service fits, describe the problem and we will suggest one.

Step 2: Get a quote and choose a turnaround

We review your file and send a quote with the scope and delivery time. Nothing starts until you confirm. Quotes depend on length, the level of work and the turnaround you choose. General pricing information is on our pricing page.

Turnaround options

Turnaround options run from 24 hours to 7 days, depending on length. The fastest options suit shorter documents, such as a single article or chapter. A full dissertation or a project that includes statistical analysis needs more time. If you have a fixed submission date, tell us when you request your quote and we will confirm whether it can be met before you commit.

Step 3: An editor matched to your field

Once you confirm, we assign an editor or consultant whose background fits your discipline. A nursing dissertation goes to someone who knows clinical and health-sciences writing. A regression-heavy economics paper goes to someone comfortable with that kind of analysis. Field matching means your terminology, methods and conventions are read by someone who understands them, so edits improve clarity without distorting meaning.

Step 4: The edit, with Track Changes and comments

Your editor works directly in your file with Track Changes switched on, so every insertion and deletion is visible. Margin comments explain the reasoning behind substantive changes and flag places where only you can decide, such as an unclear claim or a missing citation.

Example comment

"I changed 'proves' to 'suggests' because a cross-sectional design cannot establish causation. Please check this matches your intended claim."

For statistics and analysis projects, you receive annotated output and plain-language notes explaining what each result means and how to report it. See statistics help for details.

Step 5: Delivery and follow-up questions

We deliver your file by email on or before the agreed date. You review the changes in Word, accepting or rejecting each one, so the final decisions stay with you.

After delivery you can ask your editor follow-up questions about their comments. If a change is unclear or you want to understand a rule so you can apply it elsewhere, just ask. Follow-up questions are part of the service.

Confidentiality and authorship

Your files are handled confidentially and used only for your project. An NDA is available on request, and we delete your files when you ask. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

You keep full authorship. We edit, explain, analyze and coach, and we never write work for you to submit as your own. Before you send a thesis or assignment, check your institution's rules on editing help and tell your supervisor. Our academic integrity policy explains where we draw the line.
